Columbia State's paramedic class is making an effort to give back to the community. The students participated in the National Kidney Foundation's annual Maury County KEEP Screenings and volunteered their time as the medical standby team for the Columbia State Alumni Association's 5K run. They also collected donations for the Bill Petty Memorial Scholarship fund and adopted an "Angel" from the Maury County Human Services Angel Tree.
Phi Theta Kappa and Student Government Association members collected 2,400 food items via a campus-wide food drive. The items were donated to the Family Center in Columbia. The student groups also partnered on the "Angel Tree" project, in which money was raised via collecting loose change in order to purchase, wrap and deliver gifts to the Salvation Army for children in need this holiday season
Employees prepared breakfast for students in the Jones Student Center on December 9. The "Feast for Finals" was a huge success, as hundreds of students made their way to the cafeteria to feed their stomachs prior to exams.
Burger King Public Safety Scholarships established at Columbia State benefit multiple public safety workers. The most recent scholarship recipients were Jeffrey Currie, Spring Hill Fire Department, Marc Jet, Columbia Police Department, Ervin Youngblood and Duane H. Sayle, Maury County Sheriff Department, pictured here with Con Vrailas, local Burger King owner and operator.
