Planning Council Minutes - October 8, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 8 a.m. on October 8, 2008 in Room 123 of the Hickman Building.

This year’s members were introduced, and Dr. Jennings provided an overview of the duties of the Planning Council. The strategic plan identifies and/or reflects the key initiatives of the college. The process of developing and implementing a strategic plan is as follows: assessment, planning and linking to the budget.

Dr. Jennings distributed the Strategic Planning Progress Report Summary and the 2008-2009 Action Plan. The committee briefly reviewed the reports. The complete Strategic Planning Progress Report will be on-line within the next two weeks.

Dr. Jennings distributed the 2006-2007 Assessment of Institutional Effectiveness Report to the new members for their own information about the process of planning. The Planning Council calendar is set for the year, and Dr. Jennings discussed the possibility of getting together in the Spring to discuss the 2010-2015 Strategic Planning cycle.

The growth plan for the Williamson County was discussed briefly. The college is going to have to look at the restrictions in budget and identify what initiatives can be achieved in this year’s action plan.

The meeting was adjourned. The Planning Council will meet again on October 22 in WLHB 123 at 8 a.m.
